Research Interviewing Families and Professionals: About

What was the study about?

We are running a research study to get a deeper understanding of the challenges or ‘barriers’ to regular hearing aid use that families face, how these barriers might influence one another and change over time, and the situations or circumstances they tend to happen in. This will help us to develop a programme of support for families to help establish regular hearing aid use with children under the age of 2 years.

What does the study involve?

The study involves taking part in a short interview (no longer than an hour) with researcher Ciara Kelly, that will be carried out remotely using video-call.

  • For parents, the interview will involve talking about your experiences using hearing aids with your baby, and your thoughts on current and future support for hearing aid use with babies.

  • For professionals, the interview will involve talking about your experiences working with families, focussing on hearing aid use in children under 2 years of age, and your thoughts on current and future support for hearing aid use with babies.

Who can take part?

  • Parents/caregivers of children aged 0-24 months using hearing aids.

  • Audiologists and teachers of the deaf working with families of children under 2 years of age using hearing aids.
